Le registrazioni VHS (Video Home System) perdono costantemente la qualità, anche se sono conservate e inutilizzate. Ancora per qualche anno sarà possibile digitalizzare su DVD i vecchi VHS e VHS-C che contengono i nostri ricordi. Se conservate in luoghi senza o con poca luce, a temperatura sempre stabile, la degradazione viene rallentata, in condizioni diverse, per capirci quelle che tutti noi adottiamo in casa nostra, LA DEGRADAZIONE DEL NASTRO È GIÀ INIZIATA! Spesso abbiamo perso buona parte del nostro amato video!

Spesso mi inviano VHS di matrimoni, battesimi, comunioni, ecc impressionate negli anni '90 e da una cassetta E-120 da 175 m=2h, quando va bene, ricavo 20-30 minuti di video, a volte anche meno e pochissime volte riesco a digitare tutta la cassetta che nonostante i vari difetti la visione è accettabile.
In sintesi, nonostante le puntinature nere o, più o meno colorate, le striature, righe e sgranature varie possiamo rivedere i nostri ricordi. Il "Brutto" è quando la smagnetizzazione del nastro è completa e crea delle lunghe fasi nere, se va bene a volte intercalate da fasi ancora visibili che io digitalizzo, perchè dei nostri ricordi non dobbiamo buttare via niente!
