Oggi è tutto più facile, nessuno nasce maestro, e la vita mi ha insegnato già da bambino che bisogna sempre cimentarsi in tutti i settori. Imparare, aggiornarsi, studiare.

 

Il primo PC che ho assemblato è stato un "80486 detto anche i486" che sul mercato sostituiva il "i386", era l'anno 1992. La generazione 486 fu rilasciata nel 1989 e dominò il mercato dei PC dal 1992 al 1995. Inizialmente, il computer equipaggiato con il 486 era molto costoso all'incirca $ 6.000 e anche di più. In Lire italiane 7 milioni.

Era quindi per l'utente normale non facilmente accessibile. 

L'80486 è un processore che anche senza raffreddamento attivo e con ventilazione del case adeguatamente dimensionata non ha bisogno di un dissipatore passivo nelle sue prime versioni (80486DX33).

Un tipico sistema di quei anni, ad esempio, aveva un disco rigido da 120 MB, 4 MiB di memoria principale, una scheda grafica VGA e il sistema operativo MS-DOS 5.0 con Windows 3.1 come interfaccia utente grafica.

 

Per acquistare tutto l'occorrente e cercare di risparmiare ho girato tutta l'Europa del nord mi sono recato fino in Inghilterra. Con la paura che ai confini di ogni Stato mi sequestravano la tecnologia acquistata!

I primi acquisti li ho effettuati a Monaco di Baviera, la Tower, la Scheda Madre "nuda" le ventole di raffreddamento, il Driver per i Disk 3,5", tutto in auto e con la paura della dogana!

 

Poi nei mesi successivi mi sono organizzato una settimana di ferie a Londra dove ho trovato a buoni prezzi tutta la rimanente tecnologia per ultimare l'assemblaggio del mio primo i486, era Luglio 1992.

Oggi è tutto più semplice, seduti alla scrivania davanti al PC, si ordina e in pochi giorni si riceve tutto a domicilio. Nessuna paura!

Then in the following months I organized a week of vacation in London where I found all the remaining technology at good prices to complete the assembly of my first i486, it was July 1992. Today everything is easier, sitting at the desk in front of the PC, you order and in a few days you get everything at home.
